Rift Spell Efficients

Spell efficients are the rate at which Spell Power is converted to damage. If a spell has a 50% efficient and you have a 100 Spell Power, 50 damage will be added to your spell (50% of 100 SP).

To find a spell's efficient you need:
Spell Power(SP): Your spell power, listed in Stats on your character screen.
Base Damage (BD): The spells base damage, listed on the tooltip.
Real Damage (RD): The damage the spell is actually doing with non crits, and no buffs.

Then use this formula:

Spell Efficient = (RD - BD)/SP

You are basically dividing the difference of the Real Damage and the Base damage by your Spell Power.

Always have all your gear on to do any math!

Rift rounds numbers down right before they are displayed on the screen. This means if you do 29.9 damage it will actually only do and display 29 damage. If you have all your gear off you'll do very low damage which means the amount that you lose when rounding is a much higher ratio to the total damage which completely screws up your math. It will still screw up your math with all your gear on but to a much lesser degree.

The list I have so far:

Some of these are out of date, will have an updated list soonish.

Recommended Leveling Guide...

Hey guys, if you are needing a good leveling guide that will get you up to 50 fast then I would recommend using xerxes guide. Most of the same leveling paths and quests lines that I used to level up are written out in this guide. I bought it a little while ago to check it out and see if it was any good and I was really impressed. Its too bad I didn't have this guide when I was leveling up, it would have saved me days of headache.

  1. I am not sure how you got most of these numbers. They are inconsistent with my numbers.
just from comparing numbers in game now from base nukes:
    Void bolt 40%
    PlagueBolt 32%
    Vile Spores 24%
    Fireball 40%
    Neural Prod 18%
    P.Stone 40%
    C.missile 32%
    T.Bolt 27%

Which are all spot on the money of your base nukes...Except for Neural Prod which had its Coefficient reduced in 1.1. Yet comparisons to others are stretching in difference. This is probably because you didn't rule out damage increases or try to avoid them when scaling up the tree (it is impossible for some abilities). But remember that passive damage upgrades DO modify the tooltip damage of abilities. So having warlocks +10% dark power, necros +5%, neddras influence, accelerated growth, soul fire, etc all increase the tooltip damage of abilities. But does not increase again in the final calculation, only the spell power bonus gains it later. So for instance Void Bolts real mininmum damage is 117. But with +5% from necro and +10% from warlock increase it to state 134. However for all purposes 117 should be used for coefficient calculations. Equally DoTs and channels are influenced by that and neddra's influence (no pun intended). Just something to watch out for. I did a list pre1.1 and plan to do finish redoing the list post1.1, but so far after 3 souls I have found only really Neural Prod has changed in terms of Coefficients.

  2. Talents that affect the Tooltip should not mess up Efficient calculations.
If your spell does 100 damage before SP and does 200 damage after SP the difference is 100.
If the Base Damage is increased by 10% it will do 110 before spell power and 210 after spell power. And the difference will still be 100. The important numbers are the difference caused by spell power and your spell power.
So Talent damage increased that effect the Tooltip will not change your outcome.

Honestly I got a lot of these numbers from another post I found, I just check 4 - 5 of them and they were correct so I assumed they all were.
Do you have an accurate list?

  3. For your Plauge Bolt are you doing it with 5 stacks of Deathly Calling or 0?

  4. 0 and untalented. Untalented deathly calling modifies plaguebolt damage by 0%

  5. Also my list is probably accurate but I want to finish my post1.1 list just to be sure.
